RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT PLANNING AND DESIGN
This project is an innovative age-friendly residential community planning located in the waterfront area of Kunshan. The design adopts "Loop" as its core concept, constructing a complete community circulation system that organically connects different residential units, service facilities, and public spaces.
The project employs a "Knots System" planning approach, creating multiple community center nodes within the loop structure. Each node provides tailored services for different life stages of elderly residents—from social and recreational activities for active seniors to medical support for those requiring care. This distributed layout ensures both convenience and diverse community atmosphere.
The architectural composition features a high-low building combination: high-rise residential towers are positioned in the central area, providing abundant dwelling units and superior landscape views, while low-rise buildings line the loop perimeter, creating intimate neighborhood spaces at human scale. The entire community unfolds along the natural river boundary, fully integrating waterfront landscape resources into daily life and forming a gradual transition from urban fabric to nature.
Through geometrical building layouts, hierarchical functional zoning, and continuous green corridors, the project creates an ideal living environment for elderly residents that is safe, convenient, and vibrant—meeting the needs for independent living while providing a comprehensive community support network.
